On September 14, 2013, when the cool summer faded and the cool breeze hit, the Alumni Association of Peking University in the Greater Washington Region held a very successful picnic in Cabin John Regional Park. The annual picnic of Cabin John Regional Park is a traditional project of the alumni association, which has been held annually since 1999.

At 10 o'clock on September 14th, directors such as Jiang Yufei, Zhou Tong, Bao Yiming, Zhong Yijing arrived on the scene very early at Pavilion A, hung the flag in a prominent place, raised a charcoal fire, and Zhou Tong and Zhong Yijing were responsible for signing in. Four students, including Xu Kerui and Guo Fang from the University of Virgina, came first. They laughed and said, "Every time they feel far away, and they are afraid of arriving late, they set off very early. As a result, they arrive early every time they come. Work, the lamb skewers are here." Cree waited from UVA to drive for about 2-3 hours. Although it was a long distance, they basically did not miss the activities of the alumni association. "I like the activities of the alumni association and can chat with alumni and eat meat. It doesn’t matter if you drive farther, you will definitely come if you have activities in the future." In addition to lamb kebabs, the alumni association also prepared grilled chicken, moon cakes, watermelon, cold noodles, salads and other foods. Director Wang Qiyun, who is in charge of the food for this event, said, "We prepare food carefully. Alumni love to eat. They will come for future events. (We have to) prepare more carefully."

At least 99 alumni participated in this picnic, and the total number of participants was more than 150. It was really full of people and a lot of fun. Participants included alumni who just graduated in 2013 and came to the United States to study, as well as the father of a Peking University alumnus born in the 1930s (graduated from Tsinghua University); there are PhDs from Peking University who exchanged in the United States, and scholars who have lived in the United States for many years; the professional fields are even more extensive.
