With your generous donation and support, the first phase of donation to fight the "epidemic" by the Beijing University of Science and Technology Alumni Association of Washington DC has now been completed. The PayPal account of the Alumni Association is not receiving new donations.

Here, I would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the alumni and family friends who contributed funds and matchmaking, and also submit a report for you.

Phase review

Since the beginning of the epidemic, people from overseas in northern China have been affected. Many people have voluntarily purchased protective equipment, and motivated the circle of friends to use the "best" method to transport goods to the country. However, sporadic goodwill is costly and low in effectiveness, and everyone feels indifferent. 2 At the beginning of the year, the Washington DC Alumni Association quickly responded to the alumni's call and officially launched a donation initiative. The volunteer team quickly assembled. In the beginning, it was just a enthusiastic “Zhang Luo” who started to raise funds from his own grades and departments, and collectively decided what to purchase. With their enthusiasm and inspiration, alumni of Beijing Medical University, alumni of the medical investment community, alumni of customs, alumni of e-commerce platform, and alumni of the legal community have joined the volunteer team. D.C. alumni are mobilized to give money to those who are rich, those who are rich, those who are knowledgeable, and those who are knowledgeable. Moving stories are happening every day. From the initial group with a small group of specific matters, it was later subdivided into the management group, the docking group, the procurement group, the fundraising group, the source group, and the certification group—it is clear and the groups are clear. Among them, it includes the 24/7 full investment of each participant, the ability to upgrade and the multiplication of influence in the future.

As of today (February 28, 2020), a total of 236 times, $50,641.3 dollars in donations and multiple batches of material donations have been received from alumni, alumni relatives and friends from home and abroad in Beijing. 17⼈ of $500). The current part supports the following purchases:

$10,000 is used to purchase a Thermo Fisher Scientific real-time PCR instrument worth 406,666 yuan in cooperation with Tsinghua North America Alumni Association and Beijing Fourth East Alumni Association. $32,668.25 was used to purchase 783 non-contact infrared thermometers and 499 oxygen meters to assist the Wuhan community in investigation and reduce the workload of guard inspections. The batch of materials were sent from New York by American freight forwarding POLAR, cleared in Shanghai, and delivered to Wuhan by China Railway. The remaining funds will be donated to kits with other institutions

In addition to personal purchases, the DC Alumni Association also uses a strong alumni network and hard-won logistics information to assist other benevolent companies and institutions, from New York, the old world, the United Kingdom, Japan and other places. Point-to-point delivery to major frontline clinics such as Wuhan, Huanggang, Tongji Hospital, Union Hospital, and Ezhou Central Hospital. Many materials have gone through setbacks and successfully arrived at the people most in need, protecting our white angels: Assisting in the transportation of 60 sterilizers/air purifiers in Japan to the warehouse in Japan, and transporting the freight to Wuhan via Shanghai. Assisted Walnut Bond LLC, a local Chinese education institution in Washington DC, and UCSSA, a US-China sister school association, to transport a large amount of medical suits and protective clothing. New York received the order from the food and has gone to the state to clear customs. One in the state has already received it, and other local transportation will be in Huanggang; Assistance-Chicago Concord Alumni Association materials donated by Air China Freight Forwarding Logistics to Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The list continues to extend. . .

New stage outlook

Although the PayPal account of the D.C. Alumni Association has stopped accepting new donations, we are well aware that the “new crown” virus is tenacious and the fight against the epidemic is a long-term battle; logistics (including Air China and China Southern Airlines freight channels) and customs clearance (including Beijing , Shanghai), procurement (including professional knowledge of the procurement of medical equipment and domestic acceptance rules), and the assistance of the Chinese Embassy in the United States to issue letters are important foundations for guaranteeing victory in the next phase, as well as valuable information to other donor organizations .

Knowing the continuous donation enthusiasm of many alumni, DC Alumni Association intends to cooperate with other charity foundations and brother alumni associations to jointly purchase the most urgently needed oxygen meter for cabin hospitals and the most urgently needed positive pressure respirator PAPR for Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital. Reduce the risk of infection for medical staff when performing high-risk operations.

Donors will receive an email donation certificate from the alumni association within 60 days. Donors are requested to declare the value of the donations themselves when filing taxes. If you need cooperation, please contact PUAA to verify the information and provide proof.
